雅思IELTS 是被設計來測試你了解及使用英文溝通的能力。考試包含了當你在海外工作或讀書時可能會需要的多種理解力及溝通技巧。
 
雅思IELTS分成兩種類型：
➊學術組：為計畫在海外讀書的考生設計，題目著重在學術技巧上。
➋一般訓練組（移民組）：著重於想去海外工作或移民的人，在日常生活中會需要用到技巧。

2019 年開始陸續開放電腦考雅思IELTS（Computer-delivered IELTS），考生可在電腦上考聽力、閱讀、寫作三個科目。但口說仍維持由主考官與考生一對一、面對面的測驗方式。
 
雅思IELTS 電腦考試的時間更加彈性，不限於周末才能考，對於考生來說，時間安排能更靈活。且考後5 ∼ 7 天可取得成績，成績公布更快。而電腦考試跟紙本考試的報名、收費方式一樣，評分標準、題目數與難易度也一致。成績認可與機關接受度也相同。
 
 
雅思的考科包含聽力、閱讀、寫作、口說，考的是英文綜合能力，考生除了要有基本的英文單字量之外，還要能組織資訊、並將想法以英文表達出來。
 
在準備考試前，一定要規劃準備的時間與目標分數，再針對弱點科目重點加強。建議在實際上考場前，先做模擬試題練習，如果自己在家進行模擬測驗的成績不理想的話，那建議採取以下步驟：
 
Step 1  反覆刷題、培養考試臨場感！
記得要模擬正式考試，打造不受打擾的時間與空間。
 
Step 2 仔細檢討，提升考試即戰力！
對完答案之後，每一回的題目都要仔細閱讀、練習掌握關鍵訊息。
 
Step 3 針對不熟悉的題目與題型，反覆學習！
錯誤的題目要反覆練習，找到並克服盲點，才能有效提升分數。

Now, standing here at the entrance to the museum, you can see the great fountain in front of you. This has been used for many weddings and formal functions over the years, and this grand lobby has even been used as a filming location for movies and television shows over the years. On your right, you can see the cloakroom. Here you can leave your bags and any other belongings. You are allowed to bring your camera with you, but please do not use flash in the museum. Next to the cloakroom you will see the entrance to the Greek and Roman Statue Exhibition. These are stunning examples of statues of heroes, gods, and goddesses from antiquity which Sir Edward collected over the years. After that, you will come to a special exhibition of modern artworks, including video and installation art. If you prefer more realistic art, you might want to spend more time looking at the European oil paintings instead. If so, you can cross over the lobby, go past the fountain. You’ll find these between the gift shop and the lifts. If you need to use the facilities while you are here, you’ll find the toilets next to the lifts in the far corner of the museum. Upstairs you’ll find the military history exhibition and there’s also a coffee shop. As I mentioned earlier, we’ll have two hours here, so let’s meet back at the information desk which is right in front of you next to the fountain, at 3pm. Is that OK with everyone? Great!
